Sexion d’Assaut – Balader

Do we like this song? Most definitely. It is an old French Hip-Hop song, but has a dope beat. The word balader means “to stroll” in English. We are very amused at the fact that Sexion d’Assaut wrote a rap song about strolling down the Champs-Elysées. They also ride smart cars (some convertible), which is just ridiculous.

John Mayer – The Search For Everything

The third wave of John Mayer’s new album has officially been released. Honestly, we’re a bit disappointed. Nothing really pops. Don’t get us wrong, the album is still perfect Sunday morning music, but it won’t stand the test of time. We don’t really blame him for pursuing a passion project. He has already made countless hits and dated the best looking women in the world.

That being said, our favorite songs on the album are: Love On the Weekend and Moving On and Getting Over

Logic – Black Spiderman (feat. Damian Lemar Hudson)

Hey… For once we are actually on the earlier side of finding a song. Logic just released a new single and it’s got everything you want in a rap song:

  • a guy rapping about himself,
  • a choir that occasionally sings but is more there to dance and look happy (serious question: is Rick Ross in the choir…? 1:15)
  • a dude playing the piano on a float
  • a reference to Donald Glover playing Spiderman
  • Logic attempting to dance
  • Khalid sitting on a bench doing nothing outside a barbershop
  • Logic’s wife getting hit in the eye with confetti at 4:17
  • and a surprise twist that Spiderman was the dude playing the piano the whole time!

Mind blown. Did we mention it’s got a piano and a choir? Name me a bad rap song that has a piano and a choir. Yeah that’s what I thought.

Favorite Lyric: “I’m just as white as that Mona Lisa, I’m just as black as my cousin Keisha, I’m biracial so bye Felicia”

THEY. – What You Want

Do we like THEY.? Yeah, THEY. is great. It’s also fun to use “THEY. is” in a sentence, suck it English teachers. In a few months, these guys are going to blow up the music scene. For now you can enjoy them on underground, incredibly informative blogs like ObservedGuide. What You Want from us other than more great music?

Favorite Lyric: “Knock them out the park, you got the juice like Barry Bonds”

Zedd & Alessia Cara – Stay

Do we like this song? Does a naked mole rat name Rufus live in Ron Stoppable’s pocket? Yes. Zedd has been known to produce some bangers and Alessia Cara just doesn’t make bad music. We are pretty excited about the combination. Side note: Zedd is just getting lazy with their song titles; first, “Stay the Night”, now “Stay”, what’s next, “the”?

Favorite Lyric: “Stay”
